The Power Of The Written Word
It has often been said that every journey in life begins with a first step. This is the first step down a path that has long been a vision of the PCB, to have a means to communicate thoughts and viewpoints without having to invest huge amounts of money in a newspaper, radio station, or television. Through the means of the blog, anyone who has the ability to write down what they think about any subject, gets published for the entire world to read.
First of all, we want to thank the good people at The Powerline Blog, whom Rush Limbaugh, had mentioned on his radio show. Shortly after that first visit to Powerline’s website, the story about Dan Rather and Rathergate was just beginning to break. The posting on Powerline was such intense reading during that short time period that it was an enticing “must” read every few hours. It soon became a favorite site to visit for their insights and magnificent journalism.
A second heartfelt thanks goes out to Hugh Hewitt, for writing his book Blog : Understanding the Information Reformation That’s Changing Your World which can be ordered here. Mr. Hewitt’s explanation about the invention of the Gutenberg Press and how it was such a watershed event in the history of Western Civilization was very enlightening. Along with the printing press with movable type changing forever the power structure controlling information dissemination during that era, and for centuries prior, was captivating.
Just think in your mind for a moment about the ramifications of the blog in our day. The blog too, has become a watershed event in modern history. The Main Stream Media, hereinafter referred to simply as MSM, is even now crumbling under their own inability to see what is happening right in front of them. For too long MSM has been in control of what information the general public sees and hears. The public has over time been duped into thinking whatever MSM said was true. Not so any longer! The MSM has a watchdog that now inspects every piece of information handed down amd verifies the veracity of every statement.
That, is the power of the written word. The idea that a poor country boy from rural Missouri, can research, verify, come up with his own ideas, and publish them is something more powerful than can be fathomed.
