You Can’t Come Back From Where You’ve Never Been
The old timers used to always say, “You can’t come back from where you ain’t never been”. This is a truism that for years the PCB always thought was referring to a physical place. But the same truism can be applied to history. If we have never studied history, or explored that “place” we have come from, how can we know who we are, or where we are going?
Powerline has some things to say about a couple of history books that might be of some interest. One of the books Powerline mentions is, A Patriot’s History of the United States : From Columbus’s Great Discovery to the War on Terror. In a later post, after having interviewed one of the authors, they heartily recommend it with a link to purchase the book here. So now all you have to do is buy the book, read it, and take a trip without leaving your chair. Then you can say I know where I came from, and I know where I am going.
