The ABC’s of Agriculture
Well it is Spring time in Missouri, and the farmers are in the field plowing the ground in preparation for planting. You have got to love farmers. They are some of the hardest working people in the world. They work long hard hours in the fields, and then patiently wait for the rains to come and the sun to shine allowing them to harvest a crop.
These men and women are patient, trusting, and persevering. They embody the ABC’s of Agriculture.
“7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:7-9 NKJV)
The same lesson should be applied to our everyday lives. As our verses above state the obvious concerning life, we should discover what the ABC’s are.
A. Whatever you plant is what you will grow. You can’t plant corn and expect to get wheat.
B. You plant a single seed, and harvest many seeds. One kernel will produce a whole stalk of corn, with hundreds of kernels.
C. You plant now, but don’t expect to gather the harvest until time has passed.
We only have to exert a little effort for good, and we will see a lot of good in return.
The opposite is also true. We only need to commit a few bad acts, and we will be bombarded with a lot of bad.
Many times we may not see the positive harvest results of our planting. By the same token, the evil results may not be immediately evident either.
Just like the farmers, we need to be patient, and trust that rain will fall, the sun will shine, and time will pass. The results of our actions will finally be evident. If we don’t allow ourselves to become tired and discouraged, the good things we have undertaken will eventually bring us and our loved ones great reward.
