Hurricane Katrina North Shore Disaster Fund Update #7
This is the seventh update for the Hurricane Katrina disaster relief fund for the Lake Pontchartrain North Shore. This includes the Covington, Abita Springs, Mandeville, and Slidell, Louisiana area.
The following is a message from Associate Pastor Mike Warman of Grace Community Chapel of St. Peters, MO:
“To Pastor Michael & our Brothers & Sisters at Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Covington, LA.
“The disciples, each according to their ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea. This they did, sending their gifts to the elders by Barnabas & Saul.” Acts 11:29-30
These words came immediately to mind as we contemplated how we as a church could be of help to so many. While there are many great relief agencies in motion, we wanted to partner with a local church there to be of help to you as you minister in Jesus name to your community. That in meeting the very real & practical needs of your friends & neighbors, maybe you’ll also have the chance to tell them of the love of Christ that makes us want to give even as He did!
It is humbling to hear the words of the town mayor as reported by you Pastor Mike. I hope more & more folks see believers who walk the talk. Hopefully whatever we can do financially as well as with manpower will be a credible compliment to what you all are already doing there.
We do hope in short order to provide some manpower. More than a few have expressed an interest in lending a hand. A few are skilled as carpenters & such, so please let us know how we might be of service to you all. We realize right now with the lack of such basic things, we might be more work than help. Therefore we will await word from you as to when would be best to assist you all. I’m sure basic building materials, drywall, nails, wood & like are in short supply – so you might give some thought to what we could bring along. I’m sure you are all not lacking for things to do or think about, Just Simply let us know in your timing!
From reading your web site it appeared you all were able to meet on Sunday the 4th- Thank you for your faithfulness to Christ- for your witness for Him to your community! We are praying for you- thinking of you!
