Online Freedom Of Speech Act

Tuesday, November 1st, 2005

From an article posted at Red State, and contributed by Congressman Jeb Hensarling:

“For those of you who are interested in tomorrow’s vote on the Online Freedom of Speech Act (H.R. 1606), I wanted to make you aware of the following letter I just sent, with Representative Albert Wynn (D-MD), to each of our colleagues in support of the bill. Since the bill is being considered “under suspension of the rules,” it needs to garner more than a majority of votes (two-thirds of the Members present and voting). So make your support for H.R. 1606 both loud and vocal!

Tomorrow the House will consider H.R. 1606, the online Freedom of Speech Act, which is identical to S. 678 introduced by Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid. This bill will protect citizen journalists, known as bloggers, from the heavy hand of federal regulation.

A Change In Writing Style

Tuesday, November 1st, 2005

This is a house keeping announcement for those who have been reading this blog regularly for these past few months.

Up to this point, I have written each article using the second person voice, or as it is more commonly known, the “editorial we”. As of today, I am switching voice to first person. I have been taught that by using the second person when writing, makes what you have written sound a little more authoritative. Such may very well be the case, but most of the editorial writers that I read on a daily basis, use the first person when writing their articles for publication, so why shouldn’t I? After all, what is written here aside from contributed messages written to call attention to the relief efforts for hurricane Katrina, are my own opinions.

Whether my opinions are authoritative or not are left to the reader to determine. Writing style will not change that! Only the passage of time and sustained readership will prove whether or not, what I have written will stand the test of time.

So from today onward into the future, the change in writing style will be in effect.
