Happy Independence Day

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

Thanks to all of you who are serving in our Armed Forces both here at home and abroad, especially to those of you serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Don't be discouraged by the lies of the liberal media. We support you 100%, and pray for you daily.

For those who have never read the entire speech, the following is Patrick Henry's famous speech. Read it and think about where we find ourselves as a nation today:

Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the house. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

O Give Thanks Unto The Lord For He Is Good!

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

We certainly don’t want to take away from the following history lesson, but it must be said that even with the work ethic and strategic change in the contract the colonists had signed with the English Merchants, the fact that God in His Providence intended for this colony to flourish, cannot be overlooked.

It was God who answered their prayers, and it was He who provided Squanto to become a friend and who helped to educate the Pilgrims in how to raise crops, hunt, fish, and trade with their new-found Indian friends. It was God who had an ultimate plan to establish this colony and others including Jamestown in Virginia, to one day establish the United States of America.

The Pilgrims recognized God’s hand in everything they did, and it was they who set aside a time for giving thanks to The Almighty for (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

Patience Please

Friday, August 26th, 2005

We would encourage everyone to have a little patience concerning the Constitution process in Iraq. Many among the MSM would have us believe the entire process is decaying and Iraq will soon erupt into civil war. We would hope that such would not be the case.

If you want to know what is really happening in Iraq, Michael Yon: Online Magazine is a must read. His article, Gates of Fire, is the story of America’s bravest and finest, being reported on by a brave and fine man to counter all the misinformation we receive on a daily basis.

Hugh Hewitt writes in, Michael Yon and the Duties of Civilians, the following:

“Because courage is the most hypnotic of virtues, and Yon is a courageous man reporting on the deeds of other courageous men. I quote Thucydides in my review of (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

A Move Toward Democracy

Thursday, August 25th, 2005

The Wall Street Opinion Journal has a great editorial outlining the positive points of the Iraq’s new draft Constitution which should be approved sometime later today. In their article, Iraq’s Federalist Papers , they wrote the following:

“As for the unambiguously good news, there is both federalism and the oil-sharing formula. The draft constitution describes Iraq as “a democratic, federal, republican system”–an organizational structure that should be familiar to Americans. Some Sunni representatives have objected strongly, saying a federal structure risks the dissolution of the Iraqi state. But the reality is that federalism in one form or another was inevitable long before the constitutional talks began.

The Kurds, for starters, are not about to give up the autonomy they have enjoyed since the mid-’90s under cover of no fly zones (and would themselves dissolve the Iraqi state by secession were concessions on this matter not granted). (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

Ground Zero Heisted

Tuesday, June 7th, 2005

Our thanks to Michelle Malkin for highlighting an article from the Wall Street Journal Online. The article entitled, The Great Ground Zero Heist, gives a rundown on the new owners of Ground Zero. The following are the new owners, and the organization they belong to:

“The driving force behind the IFC is Tom Bernstein, the dynamic co-founder of the Chelsea Piers Sports and Entertainment Complex who made a fortune financing Hollywood movies. But his capital ventures appear to have funded his true calling, the pro bono work he has done his entire adult life — as an activist lawyer in the human rights movement. He has been a proud member of Human Rights First since it was founded — as the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights — 27 years ago, and has served as its president for the last 12.

The public has a (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

Tyranny Of The Courts

Wednesday, March 9th, 2005

That is the way Mark R. Levin describes the way that our court system has become in the US.

We have just begun reading the new book by Mr. Levin who is President of the Landmark Legal Foundation, and widely listened to radio talk show host on WABC in New York City. We are about fifty pages into the book and it is fascinating. The days of history class were renewed afresh in our mind as we traveled back with Mr. Levin to the founding of this great land only to find out the Supreme Court was grasping for power as early as 1802. The sad thing is, they managed to pull it off.

The results have been catastrophic for our Republic, and will only get worse. The book is entitled, Men In Black: How the Supreme Court Is Destroying America, and can be purchased from Amazon here.

You should buy the book and begin reading it. We may devote a once per week lesson on this book and it’s contents. You wouldn’t want to flunk any quizzes we might give out.

Joining Hands

Thursday, February 24th, 2005

In 1985, during the Southern Baptist Convention’s Pastor’s Conference, W. A. Criswell, former Pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church of Dallas, TX told a story. The story was about a little boy who got lost in a giant wheat field in Kansas just at harvest time. By the time the mother of the little boy realized that he was missing, several hours had gone by. She had been busy preparing dinner for the hands that were helping harvest the wheat and had not noticed that he was missing. She frantically raced to the field where her husband and the hired people were working and they began to search. One of the hands was dispatched to the neighbors to get help to look for the little boy. They searched for hours, but were not able to find him. Finally the father of the little boy asked all the hired people (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

You Can’t Come Back From Where You’ve Never Been

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005

The old timers used to always say, “You can’t come back from where you ain’t never been”. This is a truism that for years the PCB always thought was referring to a physical place. But the same truism can be applied to history. If we have never studied history, or explored that “place” we have come from, how can we know who we are, or where we are going?

Powerline has some things to say about a couple of history books that might be of some interest. One of the books Powerline mentions is, A Patriot’s History of the United States : From Columbus’s Great Discovery to the War on Terror. In a later post, after having interviewed one of the authors, they heartily recommend it with a link to purchase the book here. So now all you have to do is buy the book, read it, and take a trip without leaving your chair. Then you can say I know where I came from, and I know where I am going.
