Look No Further

High School Seniors out there who have political aspirations need look no further than Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia. Our thanks to Red State for pointing to this rising star of education. In his article entitled, The Future of a Conservative Political Movement, Mark Kilmer wrote:

“The future of conservatism is being fashioned, in part, at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia — a non-denominational Christian college… Its purpose is to educate the next generation of Christian politicians, and the connections and internships for the undergrads are great.”

Hanna Rosin has written for the The New Yorker an article which goes into great detail about Patrick Henry College. Her article entitled, God And Country; A college that trains young Christians to be politicians. states the following:

The Foundation Has Been Laid

What do you think about when someone mentions our system of justice and the law? Most people envison the statue of justice the PCB grew up with. The statue of justice standing with blindfold, and the balance scales in one hand and sword in the other signifying that justice is blind and metes out punishment according to the balance weighed in your favor or against it.

There is another image of justice that can be found here . This image of justice, as is pointed out by Francis Schaeffer in his book entitled, How Should We Then Live?, has no blindfold, has sword firmly planted into an open law of God, and holds the scales in the other hand.

With those two images in your mind, think about what should our view of justice be. Should justice be blind, or should justice have a foundation? The next question (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

The Marketplace of Ideas

So Paul stood up in front of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I see that you are very religious in every way.” Acts 17:22 (ISV) As you can see from the above quotation, that the Apostle Paul went to where the men of Athens gathered for discussion on topics of importance in their ancient world. You can read further about what different kinds of people were there when he made this statement, and you can read further about his conclusions in the rest of the chapter.

The question that must be asked in our day is, “Where is the marketplace of ideas in the 21st century”? The new modern marketplace of ideas can be found on the internet at sites such as this one.
