Truth - Mortal Enemy of the Lie

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

I haven't written in quite some time, but I heard this on the radio today and it made so much sense, I thought I would share it with you.

Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels was the master of the "big lie" tactic in which a lie, no matter how outrageous, is repeated often enough that it will eventually be accepted as truth. Goebbels explained

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."

House Democrats Vote for Defeat

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

Despite 149 Democrats voting against it, the House of Representatives passed House Resolution 861 .

This is exactly why we need to support the Republicans in the GWOT by getting out the vote in November 2006. Without our support, the Dems might actually take control of Congress. Democrat defeatism will not make us safer here at home. The following is the text of the Resolution :HRES 861 EH

H. Res. 861

In the House of Representatives, U.S.,

June 16, 2006.

Whereas the United States and its allies are engaged in a Global War on Terror, a long and demanding struggle against an adversary that is driven by hatred of American values and that is committed to imposing, by the use of terror, its repressive ideology throughout the world;

So Go, Spread Freedom Throughout The Land

Tuesday, March 28th, 2006

I haven't written much politically for a while, so I thought I would do something creative to try and get back into the swing of things.

Hugh Hewitt has written a new book, Painting the Map Red , and I have entered the contest at Radio Blogger to try to come up with the most creative graphic to promote it.

The following is my entry:

So It Has Been Wrtitten, So Let It Be Done

So go. Buy the book. Read it, and help Spread Freedom Throughout the Land.

Why Haven’t We Seen The Barrett Report?

Saturday, December 10th, 2005

I usually try to class myself as one of those who tries to keep up with current events as they happen, but this story completely slipped under my radar screen. If I have not heard or read about it, chances are you haven’t either. All of us could ask the question, “Why hasn’t the MSM been all over it?”, but we all know the answer. If this report ever sees the light of day, Senator Hillary Clinton’s chances of getting elected President are about as good as Howard Dean’s are, and that’s not very good.

Imagine my surprise when I read the following article written by Tony Snow for Town Hall yesterday. This will get you started:

“By all accounts, the 400-page Barrett report is a bombshell, capable possibly of wiping out Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential prospects. At the very least, it would bring to public (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

The Lies Of Pro Abortion

Saturday, November 5th, 2005

Leon H at Red State has written some of the best reasoning against abortion I have ever read in his article, Abortion By the Numbers. He begins by quoting Joseph Stalin, and Jesse Jackson from 1977. Here’s a taste:

“A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.” -Josef Stalin

“That is why the Constitution called us three-fifths human and then whites further dehumanized us by calling us ‘n*****s’. It was part of the dehumanizing process. The first step was to distort the image of us as human beings in order to justify that which they wanted to do and not even feel like they had done anything wrong. Those advocates of taking life prior to birth do not call it killing or murder, they call it abortion. They further never talk about aborting a baby because that would imply something human. Rather they talk about aborting the fetus. Fetus sounds less than human and therefore abortion can be justified…

* * *

Abortion is black genocide. What happens to the mind of a person and the moral fabric of a nation that accepts the aborting of the life of a baby without a pang of conscience?”

The Left Keeps Hoping

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

If you have been out of touch over the last couple of weeks, much has been written about President Bush’s choice to replace Sandra Day O’Connor on the Supreme Court. Conservatives have banged away at each other with verbal volleys, one side for, the other side against Bush’s pick.

In Fact so much has been written, Howard Fineman wrote an article a few days ago entitled, Conservative Crackup, where he states:

“The “movement” —that began 50 years ago with the founding of Bill Buckley’s National Review; that had its coming of age in the Reagan Years; that reached its zenith with Bush’s victory in 2000—is falling apart at the seams.”

Unfortunately for Mr. Fineman, Rush Limbaugh has dissected his piece, and wrote on Monday in the Opinion Journal Online, There’s a crackdown over Miers, not a “crackup.”. Using logic and reasoning against (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

The Ones To Watch In 2008

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

Dan Patrick of KSEV 700 talk radio in Houston guest hosted the Laura Ingraham show this morning. During the course of the show, he made a prediciton concerning the 2008 Presidental election.

His prediction is that we would see Senator Hillary Clinton as the Democrat nominee, and she would be running against former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich as the Republican nominee. If his prediction holds true, it would certainly put a little excitement into the race.

Newt Gingrich besides being a former Congressman from Georgia’s Sixth District, was also the former Speaker of the House of Representatives. He has a great mind, is a gifted speaker, and a great author. His latest book, Winning The Future: A 21st Century Contract with America, is about the “five threats that could undermine, if not eliminate, the United States if immediate steps are not taken to correct them”.

Dan Patrick is also author of The Second Most Important Book You Will Ever Read.

Just a thought to toss around for 2008.

A Possible Crack

Monday, August 8th, 2005

Is there a possible crack forming in Senator Clinton’s support from her newly acquired home state of New York?

The Washing Post, is running an AP story, Pirro Will Challenge Clinton for New York Senate seat in the 2006 election.

Finally, the people of New York are getting tired of Hillary using their Senate seat for nothing more than a springboard for her political ambitions. Here is a portion:

“ALBANY, N.Y. — Jeanine Pirro, a high-profile prosecutor from the New York City area, said Monday she will seek the Republican nomination to challenge Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in her bid for re-election next year.

“I am running against Hillary Clinton because New York state deserves a senator who will give her all to the people of New York for a full term, who will not miss votes to campaign in (presidential) primaries,” Pirro said in a statement.

“When Mrs. Clinton first came to us and said she wanted to be a New Yorker, she asked New York to put out a welcome mat and we did,” the Westchester County district attorney added. “But now she wants us to re-elect her even though she won’t promise to serve out her term and wants to use us as a springboard to the presidency. She’s asking us to become her doormat. I believe we deserve better.”

We wish you success Ms. Pirro!

Rove Vindicated

Friday, July 15th, 2005

Chief Presidential adviser Karl Rove was vindicated of disclosing the name of a covert CIA operative of which he has been accused by every MSM news outlet, every left-wing idealogue, and most of the Democrats in Congress. According to this story entitled, Rove Learned CIA Agent’s Name From Novak, it was Rove who learned the identity of the operative from reporters, not the other way around. Here is a portion:

“WASHINGTON (AP) - Chief presidential adviser Karl Rove testified to a grand jury that he talked with two journalists before they divulged the identity of an undercover CIA officer but that he originally learned about the operative from the news media and not government sources, according to a person briefed on the testimony.

The person, who works in the legal profession and spoke only on condition of anonymity because of grand jury secrecy, told The Associated Press that (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

You Gotta Love It

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

You gotta love it when someone has the audacity to actually tell the truth where they can be heard and quoted for the whole world to see. Such is the audacity of Karl Rove. In a speech delivered yesterday afternoon in Manhattan to a crowd of hundreds, this is what he said according to the New York Times, this morning in an article by Patrick D. Healy, Rove Criticizes Liberals on 9/11.

“Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers,” Mr. Rove, the senior political adviser to President Bush, said at a fund-raiser in Midtown for the Conservative Party of New York State.

Citing calls by progressive groups to respond carefully to the attacks, Mr. Rove said to the (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

By Design

Monday, June 20th, 2005

A pattern is beginning to emerge from the Democrats and their MSM supporters. The pattern is the same, only repeated with slight differences by those who are picking up the chorus. They want the terrorist detainee camp in Guantanamo closed down.

First it was Newsweek with their inaccurate story on the The Qur’an Question written by Evan Thomas and Michael Isikoff. Then last week we heard Senator Durbin’s outrageous remarks on the Senate floor, which you can listen to the audio clip by clicking here, courtesy of Radio Blogger.

Today we have former President Bill Clinton weighing in with his remarks in the Financial Times. Of course we all remember how adept the former President was in his use of our military. As Expected

Friday, June 17th, 2005

As expected there is not a single editorial from a major newspaper or network in the liberal Main Stream Media condemning Senator Durbin’s despicable comments, nor of his refusal to apologize. Not a single word of rebuke from any Democrat Senator, or any Democrat party leader, nothing!

There are some articles written by great journalists from secondary tier newpapers, and from the blogoshpere.

John Podhoretz of the New York Post, (the new paper of record) writes in an editorial called, OVER THE LINE, the following:

” No, no, no. Not this time. Dick Durbin has slandered the American military. He has slandered his country. He has defiled truth and he has spat on reason. He has given aid and comfort to all those who seek to use America’s tough stance in the War on Terror as a recruiting tool for anti-Americanism.

Aiding And Abetting

Thursday, June 16th, 2005

The remarks given by Senator Richard Durbin (Democrat IL) on the Senate Floor late on Tuesday, are so reprehensible and beyond rebuke, in our opinion, it would be in order to take higher action against such outrageous behavior.

Hugh Hewitt comes close to the proper action in his article entitled, A Tale of Two Senators. His suggestion is the following:

” You can call the Congressional switchboard at 202-225-3121 and add your voice to the thousands who have demanded this obtuse pol apologize. But a better action would be to contribute to Minnesota Congressman Mark Kennedy, the Republican front-runner to replace another Democratic nutter, Mark Dayton, in the U.S. Senate. Kennedy’s campaign can be contributed to via his campaign website. Then e-mail your electronic receipt to every Democratic Senator you can find, telling them that a party with such a historically illiterate, (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

Conservatives Can Win

Tuesday, June 14th, 2005

Our thanks to Real Clear Politics for pointing to an editorial by John Avlon of the New York Sun. The article entitled, Independent President In 2008?, promotes an analysis for a possible Independent Candidate’s ability to win in 2008. In the article, Mr. Avlon has a lot of statistics, and some possible scenarios, but he doesn’t have a winning proposition.

As we reflect on third party candidates in recent years, the first one who comes to mind is Ross Perot in 1992. One could argue that his run for the White House effectively gave the election to President Clinton. You can find a study on the demographics with a county by county breakdown here. The next important third party candidate was in 2000, where Ralph Nader had a huge impact on the Presidential election, this time affecting the Democrat candidate Al Gore. It Might Be, It Could Be, We Hope

Friday, June 3rd, 2005

The sound of Harry Carey’s voice is ringing in our ears, “it might be, it could be, it is!” as he used to say when calling for the St. Louis Cardinals in the 60’s.

As we read this article from Daly Thoughts, entitled, Shock Poll: Byrd, Capito race too close to call, we could only echo Harry in thinking, it might be, it could be, oh we hope so!

It seems the poll in West Virginia is almost too good to be true. It shows Senator Byrd in an almost dead heat with a possible Republican candidate who has not even declared that she is running.

This is an excerpt of the report, which itself contains some links to polls:

“Hat tip Sean at My Election Analysis. The Charleston Daily Mail reports,

A new poll shows Sen. Robert Byrd and Rep. Shelley Moore Capito would run neck and neck in a possible campaign for the Senate seat now held by Byrd.

An RMS Strategies Poll released today reports that 46 percent of 401 registered voters in West Virginia would vote for Byrd if the election were held now.

A total of 43 percent picked Capito, R-W.Va., though she has not announced her intention to run.”

If true, this completely substantiates the view that those who cling to filibustering judicial nominees are extremely vulnerable in the next election cycle. Senator Byrd would finally get that retirement he so richly deserves.

We can almost hear Harry singing, “Take me out to the ball game, Take me out to the park”.

Who Can Win In 2008?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

It’s not too early to be thinking about who will run on the Republican ticket in 2008. If you pay any attention to MSM outlets, one would think Senator Hillary Clinton has it all wrapped up, and is ready to move back in to the White House.

Two different perspectives today should peak our interest in the 2008 Presidental race even at this early date.

First, from the Wall Street Opinion Journal, an article written by Brendan Miniter entitled, The McCain Myth. We will only look at a very crucial part of the article which says the following:

“Now, however, the answer to the question is obvious: Conservatives can and do win elections for the Republican Party. What the McCain Myth ignores is that for now a majority of voters nationwide embrace conservative principles. Talk of being a “compassionate conservative” notwithstanding, it wasn’t maverick moderatism that (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

Much Needed Shakeup For UN

Thursday, May 12th, 2005

From all we have read concerning John Bolton, most of the criticism has come from charges that have no basis in fact. Is he tough minded? Is he no non-sense? Does he speak his mind? The answers to all these questions are yes.

These are qualities few people at the United Nations understand or appreciate, but they are qualities that are desperately needed by the next ambassador to that body. We need him to communicate to the UN, just how irrelevant they have become, and to force the corruption to be cleaned up. The UN has become a cesspool of scandal, and criminality which must be dealt with. The corruption ranges from unbridled sexually perverted peacekeepers in Africa, to unethical fraudulent oil-for-food criminals, which reaches to the highest levels.

Our next Ambassador to the UN, must take a message from the majority of the American people who are tired of paying taxes supporting the kind of conduct which is currently taking place there now.

The Senate needs to confirm him today, and let him take his place alongside all the other true leaders who have represented us in the past.

The Right To Own And Bear Arms

Wednesday, April 27th, 2005

The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, is something every eighth grader in this country has read and understood in order to be graduated into high school. At least that was the requirement just a few years ago.

It is not diffuicult to read or understand. Anyone with an even cursory knowledge of the English language, and at least some knowlege of American History can understand the obvious meaning of the Second Amendment, which by the way was number two in the “Bill of Rights” to the Constitution. The ten “Bill of Rights” were ratifed by the states and became effective December 15, 1791.

The Second Amendment states,

“A well regulated Militia, being nescessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”.

The opinions of what the Militia constists of, has become so (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

Young Republicans On The Rise

Friday, April 22nd, 2005

In an article published in the The Washington Times, on April 19th, 2005, Jennifer Harper reveals some interesting statistics concerning college age young people. The article entitled, Student Bush Backers Outnumber Critics, says “It’s close, very close. But more college students approve of President Bush than disapprove of him, according to a poll released yesterday by Harvard University’s Institute of Politics.
The survey of 1,206 students nationwide finds about 47 percent approve of Mr. Bush, about 46 percent disapprove and about 6 percent are unsure. There’s an uptick in collegiate conservatism as well: 33 percent say they are conservatives, up three points from 2004. ”

This is great news for the future of our country, and should be an incentive for more young people to get involved in the political process. If you are not aware of it, the College Republican National Committee’s website provides many opportunities for young people to become politically active. There are chapters on most college campuses, and if not on your campus, they have information to help you get a chapter started.

Young people “are” the future. Make the future brighter for you and your future families. Have a voice in your government. If you don’t raise your voice, someone else will, and they may not say what you want said.

Should We Fear Hillary?

Tuesday, April 12th, 2005

Red State has an article entitled, On the Political Ineptitude of Hillary, written by The Horserace Blogger. If you want an education in politics, this is the guy to follow. He will some day be up there with Michael Barone when it comes to analysis. This article deals with Senator Hillary Clinton’s obvious run-up to the presidency in 2008. Here is a portion:

“And Hillary Clinton is a bad politician. Ironically her awfulness as a politician is why people think she is so great. Her political moves are so obvious that everybody discusses how “political” she is. “Oooooh…she is so Machiavellian!” Pundits are in awe of how overtly political she is — and they assume that her overtness is a sign of her excellence. Far from it. As anybody who has read The Prince knows, the true Machiavellian is one that everybody thinks is a saint.”

His final conclusion is this:

“Or, to quote Kaiser Soze, “The greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.” Hillary is no political devil precisely because everybody is convinced that she is!”

This is an excellent read on Hillary. The Horserace Blogger writes from a position of research and depth on this subject.

So should we fear Hillary? If the Horserace Blogger is correct, we need have no fear.

Use The Stick

Wednesday, March 16th, 2005

Red State Rant, outlines a strategy for the Republicans in a post entitled, Republicans have the big stick, time to use it! Please read the entire rant!

Here are some of his points:

“Compassionate Conservatism is just another way of saying “let’s be nice to Liberals”. You can be sure if they had the big stick they would be beating us to death with it. The party of Michael Moore and George Soros would be dragging us towards European socialism at break neck speed.

We need to move ahead with the Nuclear option on judicial nominees
We need to overhaul social security
We need to gain some sense of fiscal responsibility
We need find a way to to stop legislation from the bench.
We need to get our military out of places (Korea,Japan and Germany) where they are not welcome

We need to leave God and the Ten commandments in our courts
We need to tell the UN to get a real job and find a new home.

Its time we found the backbone to be the majority party, put the full weight of the Republican party behind these issues and stop trying to nuance the Democrats. The American People elected conservatives to continue to provide a bold and direct government, what we are giving them is vacillating themes and ideas. The election is over and its time to govern.”

He admits it is a rant, but after all, Red State Rant, is the name of his blog, and we happen to like a good rant once in a while.

A Little Shiver

Tuesday, March 15th, 2005

We spend more tax dollars on education per capita than any other country in the world. We send our children to high school, and off to college, only to discover their deficiency in the rudimentary elements of education.

An article appears in USA Today written by Kathleen Parker, entitled What they don’t know can hurt them. It is a great article with statistics concerning what our teenagers have and have not learned during the course of their education. Please read the entire article. The following are some excerpts from the above article:

“In a recent study, the largest ever of its kind, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation attempted to measure high school students’ understanding of the First Amendment and the free press. Among the more depressing results:

    A Compassionate Conservative

    Monday, March 14th, 2005

In today’s Washington Post online edition. A story written by Donna St. George entitled Starr, in New Role, Gives Hope To a Needy Death Row Inmate, demonstrates that Judge Kenneth Starr who was once the most reviled man in America during his role as Independent Counsel in the Whitewater Investigation, always was and still is a compassionate conservative.

Judge Starr, who has since become law school dean at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, became involved with the case of a capital punishment death row inmate, shortly after returning to his old law firm, Kirkland & Ellis.

According to the above article, the case found Judge Starr through a connection his law firm had with a Washington program and the University of Notre Dame.

Judge Starr is quoted in the article as saying:

“A compassionate and decent society has to ensure that a death penalty regime is as error-free as humanly possible and as fair as humanly possible,” Starr said in an interview. For Lovitt, he said, the system has failed that test. Moreover, he said: “He is maintaining his innocence, and as his counsel, I am maintaining his innocence.”

The entire article is worth reading, and truly is an example of a man who has been a compassionate conservative his entire life.

    Dependable or Dependant?

    Thursday, March 10th, 2005

That’s a good question concerning Social Security. Can we really depend on Social Security at the time of our retirement?

Tom Bevan of Real Clear Politics writes in an article today entitled, MR. REICH’S DEPENDENCY: about this very subject. The whole article is worth reading.

It is fair to say we have a mess on our hands, and it is all coming to a head one of these days. So who do we believe? Do we believe the Democrats who say there is no problem, we only need to raise the retirement age again, and raise taxes, or do we believe President Bush and the majority of Republicans who are saying the crisis is now, and needs to be dealt with?

The President has made a very thoughtful proposal. One which can not harm existing Social Security recipients any further than they have already been harmed (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

    Spring Has Sprung

    Thursday, March 10th, 2005

No, the weather is still pretty chilly in North East Missouri, but Jeff Jacoby of The Boston Globe tells us in an article entitled, The Arab spring, there is a thaw in the Middle East.

Here are some excerpts from his article:

‘’IT IS time to set down in type the most difficult sentence in the English language. That sentence is short and simple. It is this: Bush was right.” Thus spake columnist Richard Gwyn of the Toronto Star….

    and again,

“The Axis of Weasel is crying uncle, and much of the chorus is singing from the same songsheet.”

    and here,

“For those of us in the War Party, by contrast, these are heady days. If you’ve agreed with President Bush all along that the way to fight the cancer of Islamist terrorism is with the chemotherapy of freedom and democracy, the temptation to issue I-told-you-so’s can be hard to resist.”

and finally, his quotation of President Bush,

“‘’At last, clearly and suddenly, the thaw has begun,” said President Bush on Tuesday. Let us all pray that it continues and that the long winter of Arab discontent is finally giving way to a summer of liberty and human rights. There will be time enough for gloating if it does.”

It is a great article! One filled with hope and inspiration as well as caution concerning the success of democracy in the Middle East.
