House Democrats Vote for Defeat

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

Despite 149 Democrats voting against it, the House of Representatives passed House Resolution 861 .

This is exactly why we need to support the Republicans in the GWOT by getting out the vote in November 2006. Without our support, the Dems might actually take control of Congress. Democrat defeatism will not make us safer here at home. The following is the text of the Resolution :HRES 861 EH

H. Res. 861

In the House of Representatives, U.S.,

June 16, 2006.

Whereas the United States and its allies are engaged in a Global War on Terror, a long and demanding struggle against an adversary that is driven by hatred of American values and that is committed to imposing, by the use of terror, its repressive ideology throughout the world;

Democrats At A Loss

Monday, August 22nd, 2005

Democrats are at a loss again in trying to determine how to approach Judge John Roberts’ Senate Judiciary hearings which begin in two weeks.

The New York Times reports in a piece by David D. Kirkpatrick entitled, Senate Democrats Are Split on Tactics for Questioning Roberts (registration required) on the struggle in the Senate Democrat caucus. Here is the dilemma they are facing according to this article:

“Officials of the groups have warned Democrats that if Judge Roberts becomes a Supreme Court vote against their causes - for example, in a New Hampshire abortion rights case expected to be decided before the 2006 elections - they will hold accountable any senator who votes to confirm him. “I think it is a big problem for pro-choice senators if they vote to confirm Judge Roberts and he votes to uphold the New Hampshire law,” said Kate Michelman, (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

A Possible Crack

Monday, August 8th, 2005

Is there a possible crack forming in Senator Clinton’s support from her newly acquired home state of New York?

The Washing Post, is running an AP story, Pirro Will Challenge Clinton for New York Senate seat in the 2006 election.

Finally, the people of New York are getting tired of Hillary using their Senate seat for nothing more than a springboard for her political ambitions. Here is a portion:

“ALBANY, N.Y. — Jeanine Pirro, a high-profile prosecutor from the New York City area, said Monday she will seek the Republican nomination to challenge Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in her bid for re-election next year.

“I am running against Hillary Clinton because New York state deserves a senator who will give her all to the people of New York for a full term, who will not miss votes to campaign in (presidential) primaries,” Pirro said in a statement.

“When Mrs. Clinton first came to us and said she wanted to be a New Yorker, she asked New York to put out a welcome mat and we did,” the Westchester County district attorney added. “But now she wants us to re-elect her even though she won’t promise to serve out her term and wants to use us as a springboard to the presidency. She’s asking us to become her doormat. I believe we deserve better.”

We wish you success Ms. Pirro!

Two Reasons

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

There are two excellent reasons why President Bush should not nominate Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to be the next Associate Justice on the Supreme Court.

Reason number one, is that the Attorney General more than likely will turn out to be another Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. If you want an unbridled, uncensored, look at Justice O’Connor’s legacy, you should read, Reagan’s biggest mistake finally retires, by Ann Coulter. The article written for World Net Daily, is a no holds barred, down and dirty, hold nothing back, tell us how you really feel commentary on Justice O’Connor’s regime on the Supreme Court. The following is just a taste of what she has written:

“It’s often said that O’Connor’s problem is that she is not a judge, but a legislator. On the basis of her bright idea to replace 10 blindingly clear words in the Constitution (”Congress shall (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

Stupid Lasts Forever

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

We have an old saying out here in fly-over country which we call home. It is an old country boy saying, that has been tried but true. The title of our post is the saying “Stupid lasts Forever”. It wouldn’t be so tragic if it weren’t so true.

As we began to read this morning we discovered Senate Republicans falling apart on the judicial nominee filibuster issue. The Washington Times in a story by Charles Hurt entitled, Undecided Specter could doom GOP. It appears that Senator Arlen Specter is again falling off the “Constitutional Option” wagon. You can read the sad story using the link above.

EconRadical of Red State is saying, Let me be the first to call for Frist to resign. We don’t agree fully with EconRadical just yet, but if what he is reporting comes true, we will not (Read the rest of the story below the fold...)

It’s Now Or Never

Thursday, April 14th, 2005

Hugh Hewitt is again encouraging the Senate Republicans to get on with the show in an article entitled, The Tipping (Away) Point. Hugh’s point is made quite clearly. If Senate Majority Leader Frist does not put down a schedule for the constitutional option and win, Republicans will lose in the 2006 election cycle. Here is a portion of his article:

“The political risks of continued dithering are outlined in my WeeklyStandard.com column, “Lead the Way.” Put bluntly: If the GOP loses or refuses the battle over the filibuster, it will lose the 2006 Senate elections, a set of contests it could actually win if the base thought there was any point to winning elections.”

This is another portion:

“So Senator Frist should lay out a schedule leading to the vote, and Senator Specter should march the blocked nominees through the Judiciary Committee, or the GOP as a whole should use the extraordinary procedure to bring them to the floor. Even if six or more GOP senators defect, at least the activists will know who they can trust and who they ought to punish. It is that simple.

You can encourage these steps by e-mailing any GOP senator or by calling their office at 202-225-3121.”

This is “the” most important political issue in two centuries. The Democrats have made it so by their unconstitutional filibustering of Judicial Nominees. It is well past time for Senate Republicans to lead in this situation, and exercise their constitutional duty.

Perhaps the Senate Republicans need to find a cure for their particular torment which we wrote about here.
